DNS DHCP and NTP Service Deployment SOP
Purpose
Deploy authoritative infrastructure services without address conflicts, name-resolution failures or time drift.
Decision Summary
Mandatory CSI deployment control for applicable work; client-specific implementation requires approved scope and change authorization.
Use Cases
LAN DNS resolver/forwarder, DHCP scopes/reservations, local zones and reliable NTP hierarchy.
Field Notes
Competing DHCP servers, public DNS on domain members, incorrect gateway/DNS options, open resolvers and unauthenticated public NTP exposure are prohibited.
Hardware Requirements
Redundant supported server/firewall, documented IP plan, upstream resolvers/time sources, monitoring and configuration backup.
Backup Strategy
Preserve configuration, credentials references, certificates/keys, application data and deployment documentation according to the workload-specific RPO/RTO.
Recovery Strategy
Maintain a documented rollback and tested restoration path before production change; validate service, data, access and monitoring after recovery.
Secure Boot Notes
Secure Boot applies to the service host/appliance and should remain enabled when supported.
Version History
v1.0 created 2026-08-04 as the baseline CSI deployment and validation procedure.
